What is the Golden Visa and how does it work?
In Espaibcn Flats we are experts in foreign clients and one of the doubts that our foreign investors usually have is what is the Golden Visa and how it works.
The golden visa or residence for investment in Spain is intended to facilitate and expedite the entry and stay in our country through the granting of visas and residence permits, valid throughout the national territory, for foreigners not belonging to the European Union that are not beneficiaries of the rights of free movement and residence.
In order to apply for a residence permit through the golden visa, one of these three cases must be met:
- By investing a value equal to or greater than two million euros in Spanish public debt securities or for a value equal to or greater than one million euros in shares or social interests of Spanish companies or bank deposits in Spanish financial institutions.
- Through the acquisition of real estate value equal to or greater than € 500,000 for each applicant.
- When a business project to be developed in Spain is presented and is considered and accredited as of general interest for the creation of jobs, the realization of an investment with relevant socioeconomic impact or a relevant contribution in scientific innovation and / or technological.
In addition to meeting the general entry and residence requirements for foreigners who will not carry out paid activities.
The initial residence authorization for these investors has a duration of 2 years, and once the deadline has expired, those foreign investors who are interested in residing in Spain for a longer duration, may request the renewal of the residence authorization for investors for another period of two years
Both the spouse and children under 18 or older economically dependent on the principal investor, also have the right to apply for this visa.
